The synthetic ropes are treated and fabricated to deal with heat, moisture, and all weather conditions, and will generally last a lot longer. Cotton rope, however, is the classic choice for organic comfort, and when cared for properly, will last a long time. Rope hammocks are responsible for the image most people have of a classic hammock, and unlike quilted, or other fabric-based hammocks, their weave allows for the most ventilation from breezes on hot days.
